What’s so special about crystals?
Do you have crystals in your house? Are these shiny, often beautiful, gems a part of your jewellery or home decor?
So many of us are interested in crystals, not only because of their appeal — the colour, the form, the sparkle. But because we have experienced how having a particular crystal with us, or using it in some way, makes a difference to how we feel.
Crystal have been used as tokens and talismans for thousands of years in healing and sacred rituals. Their preciousness has been recognised for millennia and, in many ancient cultures around the globe — Egypt, Greece, China for example, sages knew the different healing properties for different crystals. The variety of crystals is astounding yet no matter the property, each is believed to promote strong and positive energy flow in the body.
Each crystal is imbued with meanings and healing properties that support and enhance our personal journeys through life.
As crystals are naturally born from the ground, they each hold their unique vibration as a living piece of earth’s creation. Each crystal is thought to emit a unique frequency, which affects those who encounter it. It can be uplifting and it can be calming and relaxing. Crystals can energise and they can be a most effective way to enhance the reflective practices of different meditations.
Do crystals have power?
Crystals — used to beautify a house can evoke a strong sense of positivity in those who are nearby. Used while meditating, certain crystals (labradorite, amethyst, or moonstone to name three); are used to help deepen the connection with the Divine.
Use crystals in your self-care rituals, place them in your bathtub as you soak away your troubles. Those particularly known for this quality are selenite, green aventurine, or citrine.
People carry raw (rough cut, not polished) crystals with them in their bags or pocket for protection or calmness. Having trouble sleeping? A piece of rose quartz, fluorite or green calcite can send you off more quickly, and — placed under your pillow or near your bed — can keep you soundly and peacefully asleep for long.
Crystals worn as jewellery or embedded into pieces of jewellery emanate a beauty of their own and enhance the beauty of the wearer.

- Black, red, and brown crystals (black tourmaline, red jasper, or smoky quartz) are used for grounding, protection, and stability.

- Pink and green crystals (peridot, green jade, or amazonite) bring more love, compassion, and understanding into our lives.
- Baby blue and some dark blue crystals (angelite, tanzanite, or lapis lazuli) are used to release stress, restore balance and calmness.

Do you have crystals around you? Have you seen one or been into a crystal shop and chosen the one that drew you in the most? (This can, often, be a long and delighting process)
Around the globe, people have a fascination with, and significant attachment to, the world of crystals. Once you form a deep connection with the crystal you have chosen you will be aware that it is having a good effect.
Perhaps you like this lump of the earth as it radiates the most clear and luminous colour you’ve seen on anything. Maybe in holding it in your palm, you almost instantly feel calmer, and more content with life.
The quality of the connection can make a vast difference in the lives of those drawn to work with such astonishing pieces of the earth.
Caring for your crystals
Crystals radiate positive energy, but they fill up with the environment’s energy and need to be cleansed and charged with the energy of mother earth.
If you start using crystals — for meditation, or as pieces of jewellery or as ornamental in your home, remember to regularly cleanse them, which means to place them on salt for a few hours; after this, charge them, putting them in the sunlight, in the water, or directly on the earth.
If you are considering crystals in the future, I found a very helpful website that offers a lot of varieties, here it is: www.crystalsrock.com.au
Judy Hall, who writes The Little Book of Crystals provided a detailed explanation about crystals too 🙂
Thought of the Week:
I came across Napoleon Hill’s quote, “What the mind of man can conceive and believe, the mind of man can achieve.”
If you can think about a certain goal, and if you believe you can achieve it, you will most probably achieve it, provided you add another ingredient to the equation, and that ingredient is strong desire.
Regardless of how many crystals we keep, without a desire, no one strives to achieve anything. A strong desire pushes you forward, and gives you the motivation, energy and persistence to act, do things and succeed.
